Co-Owner and Clinical Audiologist
Menlo Park and Los Altos offices
Debbie Clark has been with Pacific Hearing Service since 1998. In January, 2008 she became co-owner and works in both Los Altos and Menlo Park. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Master’s degree in Audiology. Prior to joining Pacific Hearing Service Debbie worked at the Virginia Mason Medical Center Otolaryngology Department and the University of Washington Speech and Hearing Clinic in Seattle, Washington. There, she divided her time between clinical audiology and teaching and supervising audiology graduate students. It was in those settings that she developed an interest in a more global approach to hearing rehabilitation including speech reading, teaching and counseling. Prior to this Debbie worked at the renowned Bill Wilkerson Hearing and Speech Center in Nashville, Tennessee and the Vanderbilt University Otolaryngology Department. In addition to her clinical responsibilities in Nashville, she was involved with hearing- related research and the training of audiology students, medical students and otolaryngology residents.
In addition to over 20 years of experience in hearing aid technology and diagnostic evaluation, Debbie is particularly interested in the process of adapting to hearing aids (“Why do some people purchase hearing aids but don’t wear them?”) and communication strategies. Helping people learn how to adapt is a primary goal for her in the fitting process. Debbie began our “What to Expect from Amplification” monthly series of classes several years ago and continues to teach many of these classes in the Menlo Park office. She also co-wrote a textbook chapter with Jane Baxter on establishing a private audiology practice.
She completed her clinical doctorate degree (Au.D.) in Audiology at Salus University. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and is certified by the American Board of Audiology.
