Our History

Pacific Hearing Service has been serving the local community and growing steadily for over 30 years. Here is a brief look at our history. We’re big enough to serve you, but small enough to care about you.

1977: Pacific Hearing Service starts with a single audiologist in a small office with no running water on San Antonio Road near El Camino Real in Los Altos. (In the last few years, that building has been torn down and replaced.)

1979: Longtime co-owner Jennifer Fargo Lathrop joins PHS, taking over from the original owner.

1986: For the first time, PHS has two audiologists when Jane Baxter joins as a co-owner.

1991: PHS expands to two locations when it opens a new office on El Camino Real in Atherton.

1997: The Los Altos office gets a much-needed upgrade with a move to a more modern and convenient facility at our current location in downtown Los Altos, at the corner of First & San Antonio.

2007: The former Atherton office relocates to our current location on Alameda de las Pulgas in Menlo Park.

2008: Jennifer Fargo Lathrop retires and Debbie Clark becomes co-owner with Jane Baxter.

2011: PHS grows to six audiologists with the addition of Shu-En Lim in Menlo Park.
