Jane became a partner at Pacific Hearing Service in 1986 and currently manages the Menlo Park (formerly Atherton) office. She received her graduate training at San Francisco State and UC Berkeley. After working as a teacher of hearing impaired children, she changed her focus to audiology and worked as a research audiologist at the VA Medical Center in Martinez, CA. Prior to joining Pacific Hearing Service Jane worked at Stanford Medical Center performing clinical audiology and research.
Jane has made important contributions to the field of Audiology through publications and presentations at professional meetings. Recently, Jane authored a chapter for a new audiology textbook about establishing a private audiology practice. Jane was also one of the founders of the California Academy of Audiology and served as treasurer. Jane has given much back to the field of audiology over the years she has practiced. She demonstrates the same level of dedication when she is addressing her patients’ communication needs and concerns.
She recently completed a clinical doctorate degree in Audiology (Au.D) at Salus University. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and certified by the American Board of Audiology.
Jane comes from a long line of professionals dedicated to the needs of those with hearing impairment. Her grandfather, Frank Baxter, M.D., was the first Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat physician in the East Bay. Many people in the area remember her father, William Baxter, M.D, who retired from his Ear, Nose and Throat practice in Los Altos in 1998.
Debbie Clark has been with Pacific Hearing Service since 1998. In January, 2008 she became co-owner and works in both Los Altos and Menlo Park. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Master’s degree in Audiology. Prior to joining Pacific Hearing Service Debbie worked at the Virginia Mason Medical Center Otolaryngology Department and the University of Washington Speech and Hearing Clinic in Seattle, Washington. There, she divided her time between clinical audiology and teaching and supervising audiology graduate students. It was in those settings that she developed an interest in a more global approach to hearing rehabilitation including speech reading, teaching and counseling. Prior to this Debbie worked at the renowned Bill Wilkerson Hearing and Speech Center in Nashville, Tennessee and the Vanderbilt University Otolaryngology Department. In addition to her clinical responsibilities in Nashville, she was involved with hearing- related research and the training of audiology students, medical students and otolaryngology residents.
In addition to over 20 years of experience in hearing aid technology and diagnostic evaluation, Debbie is particularly interested in the process of adapting to hearing aids (“Why do some people purchase hearing aids but don’t wear them?”) and communication strategies. Helping people learn how to adapt is a primary goal for her in the fitting process. Debbie began our “What to Expect from Amplification” monthly series of classes several years ago and continues to teach many of these classes in the Menlo Park office. She also co-wrote a textbook chapter with Jane Baxter on establishing a private audiology practice.
She is currently working on a clinical doctorate degree (Au.D.) in Audiology at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Audiology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and is certified by the American Board of Audiology.
Brook Raguskus joined Pacific Hearing Service in October 1997. Prior to joining PHS she received her Master’s Degree from the University of Washington and completed a VA traineeship at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs in Seattle, WA. She obtained her clinical doctorate in audiology from Salus University in Pennsylvania. She is the instructor for our auditory rehabilitation classes in the Los Altos office. Since 2003 Brook has been a guest lecturer for a physics of sound class taught through the National Teacher Enhancement Network.
While at Pacific Hearing Service Brook has participated in beta testing of hearing instruments, signal processing strategies, and listening enhancement exercises for leading hearing aid manufacturers and for local researchers. She is proud to have received a Bay Area Schools for Excellence in Education Community Partners Award from Hewlett-Packard, Palo Alto. Brook is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and is certified by the American Board of Audiology.
Peg joined Pacific Hearing Service in January 2007. She obtained her Master’s degree from San Francisco State University where she was the recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award for Academic Excellence. She received her clinical doctorate degree in audiology from the University of Florida in 2008.
Prior to her work in audiology, Peg enjoyed a long career as an opera singer, performing with regional opera houses and orchestras throughout the United States. Because of her musical background, she brings to her practice an understanding of the nature of instrumental and vocal sound perception. She has researched music-related hearing loss and the secondary effects it can have.
Peg is passionate about the counseling aspect of working with her clients. She leads the amplification workshops in the Menlo Park office where she learns almost as much from her patients as they do from her.
